Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) was discovered in 1938 by research-chemists of Du Pont (USA). It is a partly crystalline fluoroplastic and belongs to the thermoplastic group. The rare combination of its exceptional properties is essentially due to its molecular structure.
